Things to Do in Miramar Beach in August: Two Local Calendars

Ask a longtime Miramar Beach resident what's happening this month and you'll get two different answers depending on which side of US 98 they mean. Say "Baytowne" and they'll tell you about a Tuesday fireworks show that can fill the parking garage by 7 pm for a 9:15 pm show. Say "the Boulevard" and they'll shrug and tell you to just show up, there's always a spot.

That split isn't an accident of geography. It's two distinct entertainment calendars running on two distinct rhythms inside the same town, and knowing which one you're dealing with on any given night is the difference between a relaxed evening and forty-five minutes circling for parking behind a resort gate.

The gated calendar: Baytowne Wharf

Baytowne Wharf sits inside the gates of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and its August schedule is built for volume. The Wednesday Night Concert Series runs free shows on the Events Plaza Stage at 7 pm all month, with a lineup that pulls from the region's touring circuit rather than a single house band. This August's bookings are Boukou Groove on the 6th, 12Eleven on the 13th, One False Move on the 20th, and Saltwater Revival closing out the month on the 27th.

Then there's Boomin' Tuesday, the weekly fireworks show over the lagoon. The next one lands on August 11 at 9:15 pm. It's free, it's genuinely a good show, and it's also the reason locals who live near Sandestin plan their evening around a detail that has nothing to do with the fireworks themselves: the garage. Parking around Baytowne has gotten tighter over the past couple of years, largely because Hotel Effie absorbed a chunk of what used to be overflow parking for the Village. Once the garage fills, the gate guard starts routing cars to the Welcome Center for a shuttle in, and that cutoff can start as early as 6 or 7 pm for a show that doesn't start until 9:15.

If you want the same fireworks without the gate math, the SOLARIS Yacht sunset dinner cruise out of Baytowne Marina watches the same show from open water, away from the boardwalk crowd. It's a different kind of ticket, but it solves the same problem.

Baytowne also throws a Thursday evening Sip & Shop on August 20 at 5 pm, a stroll-and-browse through the Village shops, and it's already looking ahead to Labor Day weekend, when Perfect Hues: Baytowne Wharf Art Fest takes over the streets nightly from 5 to 9 pm September 4 through 6, with live music each evening including a set from The Salty Strays and a fireworks finale over the lagoon on Sunday night.

The free calendar: Grand Boulevard

Five minutes east on US 98, Grand Boulevard runs on a completely different clock. There's no gate, no resort garage, and the town center's signature recurring event, the Grand Boulevard Farmers' Market, happens every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm in Grand Park, set up between Cantina Laredo and Tommy Bahama. It runs every Saturday in August, no ticket, no cover, park in the free surface lot and walk in.

Grand Boulevard's summer concert series, Bands on the BLVD, wrapped its Thursday run on July 2 with a finale timed to Independence Day weekend, so by August the Boulevard's live entertainment slot belongs to its Friday night comedy series, which brings touring comedians to the Emerald Coast Theatre Company's stage through the summer. It's the kind of thing you can decide to do on a Friday afternoon without worrying about whether you'll find a parking spot by dark.

The two hubs aren't competing for the same night out. Baytowne is built around ticketless spectacle: fireworks, a full concert series, a beer fest in October that draws crowds specifically for the scale of it. Grand Boulevard is built around routine: a market you can hit every week, a dining scene anchored by names like Emeril's Coastal, Tommy Bahama Restaurant, and Grimaldi's Pizzeria, and a slower pace where the complex is at its quietest before noon on weekdays.

That difference in design shows up in what's opening at each. Grand Boulevard's 2026 additions lean toward things you'd return to on a Tuesday afternoon: Perla Baking Co., an already-established DeFuniak Springs bakery bringing pastries and coffee to a second location, Warby Parker for eyewear, and a second Shades Restaurant location expected to open later this summer. None of that is designed to pull a crowd for one night. It's designed to give the Boulevard more reasons to be a habit.

Why this matters if you already live here

If your read on Miramar Beach nightlife starts and ends at "Baytowne has stuff going on," you're missing half your own town's calendar, and you're probably driving into the more congested half more often than you need to. The Wednesday concerts and Tuesday fireworks are worth the trip, but they come with a resort's traffic pattern attached. The Saturday market and Friday comedy nights don't, and they're just as easy to fold into a normal week.
